For the Christmas break, Sage and her children came down to visit with us, as well as deliver our Christmas present, a puppy. While they were down here we decided to show them a few fun things to do here in Fort Pierce. First we went to the local Aquarium to check out the cool fish and touch tank.

The person in charge of the Aquarium while we were there was kind enough to give all the kids free pinwheels, to their delight.!!

Here are some pretty pictures of fish, see if you can spot them in the pictures.

Do you see the seahorse in the picture above? Or the Hermit crab below?

In this tank they had a few fish characters from the movie "Finding Nemo". Above is the cleaner shrimp, and below is a clown fish. They used to have a blue Tang, to represent Dori, but I think it must have passed away. :(

These are not real birds but part of a scene of natural Florida section.

Here Brenna and Aurelia are showing off the glowing Jellyfish called "Aurelia...." The ... is in there because I don't remember the rest of the proper name for the Jellies. That's what happens when I don't post the pictures for so long after I take them.... Oh well. I still thought it was neat that they had her name.

Here is the explorer part of the center. If you can't look through the microscope very well, like me, then you can look at the specimen on screen. I thought it was pretty cool.

Corby,Stephen, and Mary are cute playing with the puzzles while Brenna and Conner colors a pretty picture.

Above, the lion fish, is said that if you were to touch the spiky fins, you can die, they are so poisonous. Below are some really cool sea anemones.

Above is another Seahorse, can you see it? Below are some more fish.

The next six pictures are example of what you get to touch in the touch tank.

Sea Urchin

Hermit Crab

Conch

Sea Cucumber

Starfish, a.k.a. Sea Star

David showing you how it is done.

Of course you have to visit the gift shop.

Play time!!!!

In between the Aquarium and the Historical Museum, there is a cute little playground. The kids had so much fun playing together on it. Sage's kids were showing off their awesome gymnastic skills.

Maren is zip lining across the play area. See Grandma and Grandpa, we can do it too:)

Steven is looking as adorable as ever!!!
We have some more acrobatics below. Be amazed!!!

At the Museum with Sage's family

When Sage and her family came down to visit over the Christmas Break we were able to visit a historical museum. It has the history of Fort Pierce.
Below is a statue of a bear that someone had carved for the museum. Fort Pierce has a beautification program and puts up artwork across town.

Above is the Florida version of a windmill. Compare it to Grandma and Grandpa Thompson's windmill from Holland.
Below Conner and David are showing what hard workers they are by putting their noses to the grindstone, as the old saying goes.

Above is an old time carriage, and below is one of the first horseless carriages. Or an old time car.

Above and below the kids are modeling off an old time fire engine.

This display shows off an old time window for shoppers. Can you see the old time swim suits that people used to wear? The top one has women's clothes and the lower one holds men's clothes.

For all of you cow boys out there, I thought you'd like the literal cow boys and cow girls. In the Rose Parade this year, on TV, I saw someone there riding a bull down the street. So I guess that it isn't too uncommon to give your horse a break and ride the cow. :")

Above is an old time saddle like they used to ride on in the army in the civil war times.....ooouch!!!!
Below is the scripture of the baby playing with the Asp. Well, thank goodness this one is no longer alive, but I thought it would help bring that scripture to life with Brenna playing with the stuffed Rattlesnake.

Here we have a saw fish, and Little Corby posing as military officer.

An old row boat, and the next three below show old time uniforms for the settlers, soldiers, and native Americans.

Above is how the old time settlement of Fort Pierce looked like, below is a stuffed Bobcat. My old High School mascot.

An old Native American settlement replica.

Here the kids are trying on the type of clothing the Native Americans wore in these parts of the world.

Lunar Eclipse

I tried to get a good picture of the lunar eclipse this year, but it was about 2am, and I was very tired. I couldn't hold the camera straight, so the moon looks like a red bouncing ball in my pictures. I was able to wake up Maren for the event. But she too was barely awake. It was fun, and beautiful.

Playing at the Playground

Just hanging out at the play ground with some friends. The kids had a blast!!!
