Halloween 2014

We had a fun Halloween. We trick or treated here in the neighbor hood and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of neighbors that participated. There were generally 5 to 6 houses per street giving out candy which is better than the one house per street or every other street in our last neighbor hood. We were able to walk the whole thing. As for the pictures below, the first two are our decorations, and of corse the last two of our cute kiddos all dressed up.  Enjoy. ;)

Evelyn's first tooth

Evelyn is eight months going on nine. She can crawl, pull up into a standing position, and now she has her first tooth.

Here are my attempts at capturing a snap shot of said tooth.

Fall festival at Church

Last night was our ward's annual fall festival.  The kids had lots of fun playing games and trick or treating door to door. Here is a view of my kid's Halloween costumes this year.

Evelyn is a cute little Cabbage Patch Kid

Brenna is Elsa from Frozen, and Corby is Bumble Bee from Transformers.

Conner is sporting his Optimus Prime outfit while rocking to tunes.

Maren is a school girl, she decided to tone down with costumes this year.

All the babies celebrating their first Halloween came together for a nice picture.

Fun fun fun. 😊

Corby is 8!!!

Corby is a whopping 8 years old now. We started the day with a special McDonalds breakfast, his request. During lunch I brought in some special birthday cupcakes for him to share with his class mates. Later on he helped pick out a cake and some ice cream from publix, and then of course we sang happy birthday, sang Beulah Beulah while he looked for his presents. So much fun. Now we get to plan his baptism. 😊 I sure do love this little guy, although he is quickly becoming not so little any more.

Some things to know about my little Corbsters..... He likes the color yellow, loves babies. He can be a little loud and rough, but is super generous and thoughtful. He likes to pick on his siblings, but will also defend them without question, even if it means he may get in trouble over it. He loves animals, his favorite show is Wild Krats. He is very competitive, and has a nose for sweets. It you have them, he will find them. 😉

Update on baby parakeets

In an earlier post we posted about our new baby parakeets. Well, tragedy struck while the kids and I were out visiting family. We came home and one of the baby birds was dead, and the parents refused to take care of the remaining bird. I didn't know what to do, since I was busy enough with my own babies, and household. I was afraid the surviving budgie would not make it. I also had no knowledge at all of how to feed a baby budgie.

Maren came to me and was asking about what we were going to do with the bird. I told her that if she wanted to try and save it, she could have it. So we looked up on the internet about what to feed them and how to feed them. We drove to petco to buy formula, but could not find anywhere the special spoon mentioned in many of the online post, there wasn't even a website for where to buy one. The bird, now named Budgie, would not eat the formula, we tried even forcing it to eat , but nothing was working very well. He ate very little, if at all.

One day, Budgie was just pecking around on the counter, so we put a few bird seeds down, and he went crazy over them. Poor thing tried so hard to eat them, since he was only three weeks old, he didn't know how to eat them right, so he swallowed the whole, and they'd come out the same way later. Then I had a brilliant idea to grind some birdseeds in my wheat grinder, and make a little mash out of it. He loved it. No more tring to force him to eat. Now we mix the formula with the ground up seeds, and as a result we have a fat happy baby Budgie. :-)

Maren is the one who mainly cares for him, and they do just about everything together. I've got to say, I have never personally liked birds that much, other then to look at, but this bird is so cute. He has the greatest personality, and loves to be petted, and played with.

Fun with Grandma Von

We had a nice visit with grandma Von for the Fourth of July. We watched fireworks, picked blueberries, met up with old friends at church, and of corse played with dogs. Evelyn thought Beamer, the little wiener dog, was the funniest thing ever.

Maren even made off with a pair of grandma Von's old roller blades. Grandma said she couldn't use them anymore and gave them to her. So now Maren, and her brothers and sisters have been practicing around the house figuring out how to balance on them.

We had a great visit, lots of fun. :)

New baby birds

So our parakeets have a new set of babies. Two have hatched already, out of five eggs, but it is still possible for all five to hatch. We shall see.

Some pictures of the little ones.

And here are the proud parents. :)

As you can see, the parents have good coloring, so we are hoping for some pretty babies.

Evelyn updates

Evelyn has discovered her toes. They are her new favorite thing to play with.

I also caught her snuggling with her new blanket aunt Debbie made for her.

A few other new things she is doing that I did not get a picture of yet. Secret, accidental rolling. I'll put her down on a blanket to play with toys either on her front or back, I'll look away and find she has rolled over. Nothing consistent yet, but it is the beginning of being mobile. She will also scoot around to grab things, not far yet, and not forward yet. It is fun having a baby in the house again. Everyone in the family is absolutely in love with her. She is so happy, and loves to giggle. :)

Brenna's VPK Graduation

Brenna has graduated VPK, and is now ready for kindergarten next year. We recently went to her graduation where she dazzled us with songs, poems, and reviews from the year along with the rest of her classmates.

Congratulations Brenna!!!!

Boy Scouts, Bear

So Conner and his scout mates, have earned their bear badges. He really loves scouts, and is doing such a great job. :)

Mom and Conner.

Dad and Conner.

They did the pinewood derby after the awards and dinner. Conner won both of his races. So exciting.

Corby could hardly contain his excitement. :) This birthday Corby will be joining his brother in scouts. How exciting.

My bouncy baby girl.

These bouncy swing this remind me of when I was younger watching my little sisters jumping around in them. You can see she wore herself out jumping around. What a cutie. ;)

Maren and the Cultural celebration

So Yesterday, May 3, 2014, Maren was in a program with the church celebrating the dedication of the new LDS Temple, in Ft. Lauderdale.  It was the Cultral Celebration.  You can watch it at: https://www.lds.org/broadcasts/languages/florida-cultural-celebration/2014/04

Alright, I have pictures that we took at the cultural celebration.

The picture above shows jus how huge an accomplishment this program was. So many kids. Our stake was in yellow, but it still was difficult to spot Maren during the program, although we did catch several glimpses of her.

Maren showing off her look.
